About me

“I couldn’t do what you are doing.”

“That’s very brave.”

“That’s a bold decision.”

Those were some of the comments I received when people found out that I was leaving my job without securing another one first. And those comments and reactions were a big part of my inspiration to start Enjoy Budgeting.

My Story

Hello and welcome to my personal finance cyber space.

I’m Yvette, a lifelong personal finance student and a certified life coach. My aim is to inspire you to take control of your personal finance so you can better manage those aspects of your life that are in your control.

“Why does taking control of my finance have a huge impact on other aspects of my life?”, you ask.

It is because money affects or influences pretty much every aspect of your life; food, shelter, clothing, transportation, education, work choices, relationships, you name it. Learning to manage your finances better means you can live a life that enables you to prioritise the people and things that your value and enjoy. It means your decisions and lifestyle may not look like the next person, but that’s absolutely fine, because your priorities and values are most likely different. It is what put the ‘personal’ in personal finance.

Let’s take the example of my job change.

One of the things I value in my work life is the peace of mind and freedom that comes from knowing that I’m being honest in the delivery of my work and with the people I work with. Hence, when I knew it was time for me to move on from my role, I decided to finish working my notice before actively looking for new opportunities. If I had been in a similar situation a few years ago, I may not have been able to take the same decision. What changed?

Better money management, and it started with budgeting. Well technically, budgeting was the first action but what it really started with was A DECISION. A decision to stop living hand to month, payday to payday, financially stretched, mentally overburdened, physically panicky, and emotionally drained.

So, what will a better management of your finances mean for you and those you love?

For my husband and I, budgeting has enabled us to:

  • Pay off over £40,000 of debt the 3 years
  • Get out of our reliance on overdraft
  • Argue so much less about money
  • Enjoy more of life and each other
  • Invest in our children’s passions
  • Stop living payday to payday
  • Enjoy being generous givers
  • Enjoy a debt free Christmas
  • Enjoy guilt-free holidays
  • Forget when pay day is

It starts with a decision, and that decision is backed by your WHY.

Your ‘why’ will help change your perspectives about some of the habits you need to build and incorporate into your lifestyle to set you on the path of success.

My goal is to support you with the tools you need to unlock your financial freedom so you can thrive financially and live boldly.

Cheering you on and cheering with you!
